My experience during The Pandemic has been caring for my 93-year-old mother, who became unwell with issues surrounding old age in the week before lockdown. This meant I was dislocated away from home but near some outstanding scenery.
Mum lives within walking distance of the coast, and the light and comfort of water have provided an anchor for me during this complex time when my nearby my brother in law also lost his long struggle with MND.
Watercolours emanating from these walks undertaken later in the day after I returned to her home, as well as sketches of mum often dozing, are my responses to my particular pandemic experience.
Undoubtedly this experience for both of us in her later years will change our relationship.
Her care-needs and the limitations artistically made it necessary to undertake this work in under half hour slots, and this became my work pattern.
