Experimenting with Paint

I recently took part in an experimental painting at West Dean with Helen Turner.

We worked with and used all sorts of different mediums - oil, acrylic, ink, plaster, graphite, glue, fabric, string and anything you might guess at!

One of the interesting issues for me was watching the materials resisting each other and the reactions of one upon another which I will take forward on an on-going basis.

Then I began to think of my entry into the up-coming Royal Commonwealth Society Art Competition and realised i could use some of these reactions to illustrate creative contradictions and how they can play out visually as the theme of the competition is to get people thinking about the value of their work.
